The Johnny van der Walt Prize
for the Best Poster

The Society awards a prize for the best poster by a predoctoral student in the physiological sciences at the Annual PSSA Meeting. The Prize is named in memory of Professor Johnny van der Walt, who was Head of the Department of Physiology in the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria, from 1990 till his untimely death on 28 June 2004. Professor van der Walt was one of the Society's great stalwarts, who will be remembered for excellent science, his sharp insights and enormous enthusiasm for physiology, as well as for his humour and infectious joie de vivre.

The rules of the Wyndham Competition apply, except that the prize is awarded for a poster and not an oral presentation. The prize consists of a certificate and a cash prize. Winners will not be eligible for a sponsored trip to the next IUPS Meeting.

No person may enter for both the Wyndham and the Poster Competitions during a particular year. But anyone may give additional oral or poster presentations, for non-Competition purposes, at any given meeting of the PSSA.
