Scientific Meetings

As a rule one meeting, or Congress, is held annually, usually in September, to fit in with the academic programmes of the different Universities. These meetings may include plenary lectures by invited speakers, symposia, workshops as well as oral and poster presentations. Since PSSA is also a member of the Africa Association of Physiology Sciences (AAPS) and the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), members also participate in international meetings designed to promote the development of international exchange and collaboration in the physiological sciences.

The PSSA Congresses are non-profit making exercises, deliberately aimed at financially breaking even. This is in order to permit Physiology Departments to send as many of their staff, and, particularly, post-graduate students, to these annual events.

Next Meeting

The 2011 PSSA Congress will be hosted by the University of the Western Cape.
